In today’s post on e-church Stephan Joubert dispenses the following great wisdom:
If I remember correctly, it was Theodor Roosevelt who said that if he has eight hours available to chop down a tree, then he’d spend six hours to sharpen the axe. Without proper preparation you can’t deliver decent results. This applies whether you teach at school, preach, paint, build, operate, or serve clients in a shop every day – preparation and the right attitude are necessary. The most important piece of preparation is, however, that deep recognition in your heart that you are doing it all for the Lord.
Doing things for the Lord can be very dangerous when you do it for all the wrong reasons, especially when you shun his doctrines in behalf of your goody-goody deeds.
Many will say to me in that day, Lord, Lord, have we not prophesied in thy name? and in thy name have cast out devils? and in thy name done many wonderful works? And then will I profess unto them, I never knew you: depart from me, ye that work iniquity. (Mat 7:22-23).
